Food Orgy

To celebrate the start of my vacation, my boyfriend and I took a trip down to Gothenburg to purchase some  new exciting (vegan) food we haven’t tried before. We may just live half an hour away from the city but when it comes to the range of vegan offers the towns couldn’t be farther apart. We had planned this trip for a while, taking tips from vegan inhabitants in Gothenburg of what places to go to.

I think we spent most money in a health store called Gröna Boden. It was a little mecca for a candy starved vegan as myself haha. (Nah it’s not nearly as bad as that, my sugar cravings are pretty low by now) I ended up with quite a few treats. Including a banana chocolate which I’m very much looking forward to try.

I do love the asian food stores, and I wish we’d had a little more time to go through them, because there are so many fascinating things to look at. Sadly, I probably recognize about 10% of all the stuff in them, if even that. And I do am a tad cowardly when it comes to trying unfamiliar veggies, I just don’t know what to do with them. So if anyone wanna give me some yummy asian recipes, that’d be great!

For lunch, we went to a rawfood place that serves all vegan, Rawfoodbaren is its name if you wanna check it out. We had a pizza and a thai curry that we shared. You can’t go to a restaurant without sharing!

For dessert we enjoyed Lily’s & Hanna’s Rawfood Ice Cream

Now, some photos of all the food we bought.

I’m really curious to try the mung bean fettuccine. And look at that stripy cute pasta! All natural colours too.
We also found a store who sold mostly oils and vinegars. One cool idea was that you could buy a small bottle and fill with your oil of choice, then when the bottle is empty you could just bring it back and refill it with the same or another oil. So clever. We ended up buying one pomegranate vinegar and one mushroom oil.

Vegan chocolate. One made out of rice milk. And the banana and chocolate one… mmm.. Isn’t the packaging adorable?

Dumplings and wakame salad, woohoo!! And yay I found tzay, I’ve always wanted to try that.

Here’s everything we bought, I think we’ll be ok for a while haha. I suspect a lot of these items, especially the veggie hot dogs, will be a one off buy – but everything is fun to try once right?

Honestly, I can’t wait for another food trip, and by then I’ll be sure to bring some asian recipes!
